Effects of Non-Structural Walls on Mitigating the Risk of Progressive Collapse of RC Structures

This study aims to investigate the effect of infilled frames through various important parameters (i.e., openings’ percentage in infill walls - several columns on first floor are removed partial infilled) RC structures, subject progressive collapse scenarios. To this end, 3D finite element models were constructed by using software ABAQUS. Numerical and experimental results compared substantiate models’ capability simulating behavior Al-Chaar et al. (2002) an accurate manner. The showed that there was good agreement between numerical results. Moreover, indicated a significant effect, which cannot be neglected, resistance; reduction ratios vertical displacement at regions can reach up 80%.
